Training

Tattoo artists must complete bloodborne pathogen training and standard first-aid training. CPR/AED training will not be accepted in place of first-aid training. Attending an employer-sponsored training will not be accepted.

Inspection

Tattoo establishments are inspected annually by a local designated inspection agency.

Laws & Rules

• 641 Iowa Administrative Code, Chapter 22
• Individuals under the age of 18 are prohibited from getting a tattoo, regardless of parental consent.
