The Sixth Form is for post-16 pupils. The Chingford Academies Trust will be the Admissions Authority for the Sixth Form.

The Sixth Form admissions procedures are as follows:

• Each year Chingford Foundation School will admit pupils into its Sixth Form. All those who wish to study must make an application by submitting an application form by the closing date. The closing date will be the Wednesday of the first week back at school after the February half-term.
• Chingford Foundation School Sixth Form only offers Level 3 courses and consequently has a specified academic entry requirement.
• The entry requirement is 31 points from the applicant’s Maths GCSE result, English Language GCSE result and best five other GCSE subject results. The table below shows points awarded for each qualification:

• Pupils who have submitted a Sixth Form application for a Sixth Form place by the closing date AND who are enrolled in Year 11 at a Chingford Academies Trust School at the time of their GCSE exams AND who meet the entry requirement when GCSE results are published will be admitted into the Sixth Form.
• Chingford Foundation School is able to admit pupils into its Sixth Form who have studied for their GCSEs elsewhere. (The planned admission number is 0, thus there is no minimum or maximum number of pupils which the school must admit.) Sixth Form places will be allocated to pupils whose applications indicate that they will meet the entrance requirement, subject to available space.
• It is the desire of Chingford Foundation School to admit all applicants who meet the entry requirement. However, where more applications than can be accommodated are received by the closing date from non-Chingford Academies Trust applicants who are set to meet the entry requirement, the following oversubscription criteria will apply:
  1. a) Firstly, places will be awarded to looked after children and all previously looked after children. Previously looked after children are children who were looked after, but ceased to be so because they were adopted (or became subject to a child arrangements order or special guardianship order). *
  2. b) Secondly, those with a Statement of Special Educational Needs which names Chingford Foundation School.
  3. c) Thirdly places will be awarded to those resident in E4 in order of distance (nearest first, measured in a straight line from the home address of the applicant to the pedestrian gate of the school site in Nevin Drive, E4 7LT). **
  4. d) Fourthly places will be awarded to those resident in LBWF in order of distance (nearest first, measured in a straight line from the home address of the applicant to the pedestrian gate of the school site in Nevin Drive, E4 7LT).**
  5. e) Then places will be awarded to others in order of distance (nearest first, measured in a straight line from the home address of the applicant to the pedestrian gate of the school site in Nevin Drive, E4 7LT).**

• If spaces are available after all those who meet the entry requirement have been accommodated, it is possible to admit those who nearly meet the entry requirement (i.e. one or two points below). In such cases spaces will be allocated in accordance with the oversubscription criteria above.
• Late applications will be considered only when all applications received on time have been processed in the manner outlined above.
• Interviews will not be used to select pupils for admission to the Sixth Form. However, once an offer of place has been made by the School, applicants will be summoned for an interview to confirm subject choices. These interviews are very important to ensure that pupils are given the right support from the start of their Sixth Form studies and to help in the allocating of pupils to subjects, but in no way determine which applicant is offered a Sixth Form place.
• Once GCSE results have been published all successful applicants must provide proof of their GCSE results at one of the enrolment sessions in August or September. There will be a waiting list operating until 31 st December of the admissions year. Each added applicant will be ranked in line with the published oversubscription criteria.

Notes:

* A 'looked after child' is a child who is (a) in the care of a local authority, or (b) being provided with accommodation by a local authority in the exercise of their social services functions (see the definition in Section 22(1) of the Children Act 1989) at the time of making an application to a school. Also included in this over-subscription criterion are: children who were adopted under the Adoption.

Act 1976 (see section 12 adoption orders) and children who were adopted under the Adoption and Childrens Act 2002 (see section 46 adoption orders). Child arrangements orders are defined in s.8 of the Children Act 1989, as amended by s.12 of the Children and Families Act 2014. Child arrangements orders replace residence orders and any residence order in force prior to 22 April 2014 is deemed to be a child arrangements order. Section 14A of the Children Act 1989 which defines a ‘special guardianship order’ as an order appointing one or more individuals to be a child’s special guardian (or special guardians).

** This criterion relates to the student’s recognised permanent home address and place of residence at the time of the closing date for applications to the Local Authority. Documentation must be provided on request to verify this address. The offer of a place may be revoked if the address given is found not to be the permanent address. Where a child lives with parents with shared responsibility, each for part of a week, the child’s home address will be taken to be the address of the main parent/carer eligible to receive Child Benefit and Child Tax Credit.
